Brittany's Blurbs...
Coterie Lounge left a lot to be desired. You would think, as a co-working space, the lounge would be geared towards work. Yet, that seemed to be the least priority. The space was beautiful and sophisticated, yet the employees dressed casually and their attitudes were less than professional. It is a co-working space, yet the rooms offer little needed to complete work (have they heard of electrical outlets?). You had to pay to use the working spaces, yet there was a restaurant free to the public. It all just left me confused. The room we were offered was an upgraded room because the woman at the front desk lost our reservation. The upgrades however were not obvious, maybe it was the bottled glass water at the table? We booked a room for an hour to really feel the experience, but were so uncomfortable with the whole thing we couldn’t wait to leave. So much so that we briskly walked out of there and almost forgot to pay, oops. This place should work, it wants to work, it just doesn't work.
Amanda's Aspect...
I booked us a meeting room for one hour at Coterie to test the likelihood of people dropping in to work there, and I can tell you I was not impressed. Not only did they take all of my information down wrong, but when we got there she had given away the room we scheduled! She said she tried to call me, but had the wrong number.. for how much their space costs for an hour I was pretty irritated. The space was very gray, stuffy, and quiet. No one was there, there was no livelihood. It almost felt like a library. Instead of inspiring work, it reminded me of conducting some shady back-door deals! I don't think I will ever return to this place, and I honestly don't see it being open for much longer. It definitely felt that it was built for an older generation, not Millennials.
Rachel's Ramblings....
We arrived at Coterie to be greeted by an irritated receptionist. Our room had somehow gotten booked for a different time. However, even figuring out how to access this "exclusive" work lounge" proved difficult. Since the room booking was goofed, we were able to get a nicer suite to work in. However, to our surprise the working area lacked all the bells and whistles even needed to work. Grey walls, yellow furniture, no outlets for charging computers, and strange room layouts offered a board room feel. Overall this lounge seemed more like a restaurant then a working space. Although the work space was a total bust, we still managed to order wine and blog about it!
